The mission of KidsFirst is to empower low-income parents living in the Twin Cities by giving them the opportunity to choose the best school that fits the needs of their child.

2011-2012 School Year

KIDSFIRST WILL BE CLOSING IN JUNE, 2011:

Dear Parent(s):

Thank you for your interest in KidsFirst Scholarship Fund for the 2011-12 school year.

It is with regret that we must inform you that KidsFirst is winding down its operations at
the end of our fiscal year, June 30, 2011. We are not able to sustain our mission given
the acute fund-raising challenges that we’ve encountered in this difficult economy.

After this 2010-2012 school year, KidsFirst will be closed and will no longer grant
scholarship
awards to any students.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this difficult decision may cause your family. We urge you to
discuss financial aid options with your school as soon as possible and begin planning now for the upcoming
2011-2012 school year.

We hope to fulfill our final scholarship commitments. Our scholarship awards, however, are
dependent on fund-raising success and are not guaranteed.

Thank you and best wishes to your family,

KidsFirst Scholarship Fund Mission

KidsFirst is a non-sectarian partial scholarship program for children entering Kindergarten through eighth grade in the St. Paul/Minneapolis, MN metro area.  The fund pays up to 75% of  tuition per year to qualified applicants.

KidsFirst focuses on elementary education because the earlier a child receives sound schooling, the better.

We are a non-sectarian organization, and our families choose the school they wish their students to attend.

There are no academic requirements for KidsFirst grants. Eligibility is based on financial need and parents' willingness to pay their portion of the school expenses. Winners are drawn by lottery.

KidsFirst Goals
To assist program participants in:

  1. Grade-level proficiency in math & reading by grade 8
  2. On-time high school graduation
  3. Post-high school goals including vocational school, college, employment, etc.

Founded in 1998, KidsFirst is a public charity funded by individual, foundation, and corporate donations, which are all matched by the Children's Scholarship Fund.
